Benefits to your Employees
The REA specifies the following key benefits.
Pension Entitlement
Your employee will be contributing towards a pension up to the age of 65 based on their accumulated fund at retirement.
Sick Pay
After 13 consecutive weekly payments, your employees are entitled to a sick pay benefit of up to 50 days in any year. As the employer you will be required to approve any sick pay claims which is made payable tax free to your employee and sent directly to their home. This is in addition to any Social Welfare Entitlement that your employee may be entitled to.
The 2009 sick pay benefit rate is €37.51 per day or €187.55 per week.
Death in Service Benefit
After 26 consecutive weekly payments (irrespective of employer) your employee will be covered for death in service benefit provided they are registered and up to date on their death. This is not just confined to working on-site.
The death in service benefit of €63,500 is payable to next of kin and €3,175 for each dependent child tax free on your employees death.
Note:- Non-compliant employers are directly responsible for this payment if an employee is not registered in a scheme.
